Snow Cream

We are watching the weather outside, patiently waiting for the sleet falling to turn to snow for a pretty good snow storm headed our way. We may get up to a foot of snow - major for Arkansas. Only a couple times in my life have we had that much snow here. Schools are already closed and I bought a sled yesterday. When it snows here, the one thing we have to have is snow cream. So I thought it would be a great time to post the recipe. (This picture is from a couple years ago). This exact time last year we were experiencing a catastrophic ice storm - and that is no exaggeration. Read my post below about that great experience!

1 large bowl snow
1 egg (we use pasteurized egg product for safety)
1 cup sugar
dash vanilla

Mix and eat. It's really yummy!

  1. Oh, I remember making this as a kid. Once in a blue moon, it snowed, and we would make snow ice cream. What fun! Little chance of us making snow ice cream in Florida, but I can live vicariously through you! :-)

    Happy Foodie Friday...

    Sheila :-)

  2. Do you just mix it? :) looks creamy...have you ever added any flavorings???

  3. I have happy happy childhood memories of snow cream--We used sweetened condensed milk. Sleet outside my window now and expecting snow!

  4. We used to make this when I grew up. Some things never go out of style--the wonder of first snow!!

  5. Oh my... the kids would love this.

  6. I love snow ice-cream! We are waiting on the snow too! Just 1 inch of sleet here...thank goodness we still have electricity. Who could forget the 09 ice storm here?!

  7. I'll tell Bandwidth about this--he was in the kitchen making whipped cream at midnight.
